About QiGong and Meditation for Health
The White Oak Martial Arts Center in now offering QiGong and meditation classes in Asheville! QiGong is an ancient Chinese health practice designed to relax the mind and body, build and work with chi, and center the spirit. This is not a martial art class. These exercises are practiced all over China, resulting in a number of health benefits.
To quote the National QiGong Association
Qigong creates an awareness of and influences dimensions of our being that are not part of traditional exercise programs. Most exercises do not involve the meridian system used in acupuncture nor do they emphasize the importance of adding mind intent and breathing techniques to physical movements. When these dimensions are added, the benefits of exercise increase exponentially.
The gentle, rhythmic movements of Qigong reduce stress, build stamina, increase vitality, and enhance the immune system. It has also been found to improve cardiovascular, respiratory, circulatory, lymphatic and digestive functions.
QiGong is the perfect exercise for those who wish to maintain good health, cleanse their bodies, relax their minds, and focus their spirits. This is the perfect way to harmonize your body, mind, chi, and spirit.
This class is taught by WACIMA Vice President Derek Croley, who has been training in QiGong for over 25 years- bouncing in and out of China to study for the past decade.
