The difference between a leader and a follower is probably not what you think.
It’s not what you look like, it’s not how “outgoing” you are, and it’s not how much raw talent for something that you have. No, the real diference is that a leader is somebody who has Courage and a follower is somebody who does not.
A leader has the courage to attempt to acheive something meaningful in his or her life. A follower is somebody who is willing to go along with whatever happens. A leader thinks for him or herself, a follower thinks what everybody else thinks.
Courage comes from Self Confidence- the belief that you can succeed- and Self Esteem- the belief that you have value as a person.
An eduction in the Martial Arts is one of the best ways to build Self Confidence and Self Esteem. This is because Martial Arts are taught in a fashion that allows the student to have measureable goals and acheive them. Confidence comes from real successes that are challenging but doable. Self Esteem comes as a result of these successes. Martial Arts are also great for self discipline, physical fitness, and focus.
Therefore, to be an effective leader one must have Courage, Self Confidence, and Self Esteem.
These are the tools, but there is one more thing that a leader must have: a Meaningful Vision. Here is where the genious of Project Based Leadership comes in.
By helping our students find meaningful projects they are able to build a vision of who and what kind of person they are becoming. With this Vision they are able to harness the Self Confidence learned from Martial Arts, combined with the Courage to take meaningful steps.
The projects that our students take on are the perfect way for them to discover what is really important to them. This is a big step in helping them grow into adults that have the tools to be successful in anything they set their minds to.
Project based leadership is the perfect way for our students to build all of the skills they will need to acheive in life- all in a way that helps others as well. Please join us, we are everything you are looking for.
