Part of our activities will be to build our own lightsabers. Here is a quick slideshow to give you an idea of how to do it.
Get a cool handle.
Building a cool lightsaber is more art than science. Even in the movies all of them are different. The basic deal is this.
- You need to have something to be the shaft or handle. this can be pvc pipe, metal, whatever. Be creative- what would be a cool handle for a lightsaber? Make it something hollow so a dowel will fit into it.
- Next you will need some kind of an end cap to stop up the bottom. Again, look at the pictures to see how this might work.
- Something to be a top cap. This needs to be something that the dowel will go through.
- You will also need some rubber O rings. These will be used to put around the dowel to hold it in place.
- Go to Michaels or some other craft store to look for stuff that would be neat to decorate your handle. Anything you want, really.
- I will have red, yellow, blue, and green paint at the school on Build a Lightsaber Day- so don’t worry about painting your blade.
Have fun with this! Be creative and I know you’ll come up with something cool!
