This part of our curriculum is designed to teach our students positive character traits, such as self discipline, respect, positive attitude, etc.
What makes this program unique is that we do much more than just discuss these things in class. People learn by doing, so this program is based on giving students a task designed to help them actually apply the lesson to their life. For example, for our theme of Respect, the students must do 50 respectful acts based upon the rules of their household. We then set up a system to reinforce this lesson not only at home, but in our classes, as well as at school. Knowledge isn’t power, applied knowledge is.
I am please to announce that we have done some revamping of our program. Not only will we have the above curriculum, we have added in the “Living Masters” component and are in the process of adding in a ”Masterful Literature” component.
The Living Masters section is a series of short videos, one for each lesson, about somebody somewhere in the world who is using the character traits we are discussing to make a positive different in their lives and the lives of others.
We are presently working with the Literacy Council of Buncombe County ( http://litcouncil.com) on the “Masterful Literature” section to add in age appropriate reading material as pertaining to each character development lesson.
The overall objective is to expose our students to positive personal traits, real people who are doing great things with them, age appropriate real literary examples and stories about these traits, and then a platform to actually apply these lessons to their lives.
This is one of the three main components of our children’s educational programs. The first is an education in Internal Martial Arts to learn use mental, physical, and spiritual balance to overcome obstacles with the fluidity of water.
The second is the Thought in Action applied character development program.
The third is our Project Based Leadership Program designed to teach our students how to use community projects to use the character traits we are discussing to make a positive different in their lives and the lives of others.
I guarantee that our kids program will make a positive difference in your children’s lives. In fact, come try us out for one entire month absolutely free. Go to www.WhiteOakMartialArts.com to get started.
