It’s time for us to do some thinking. We need to think about what is going to happen how. I’m sure that you are well aware of the many problems our kids face these days on a personal, social, economic, and environmental levels. The world is changing a lot and fast. Some of these changes are positive and some are decidedly not.
As parents and educators it is our responsibility to teach this generation of children how to deal effectively with these changes. We need to teach our children to be mindful of their diets, their physical fitness, and their activity levels. We need to teach our children how to be conscietious of the effects of their choices on themselves and others. We need to teach our children how to effectively and responsibly manage the dwindling resources of our planet.
Just like the martial arts that I teach, this is all about mental, physical, and spiritual balance. We need to teach our children how to have the vision to see the need for personal, social, and environmental balance and the courage to take positive action on an individual basis.
This is what it means to be a Black Belt Leader with the White Oak Martial Arts Center. Martial Arts does indeed have a component of self defense against violence, not to be violent nor paranoid, but to stand up if needed. However, self defense in the Martial Arts needs to be bigger than that. Self defense is the ability to defend yourself against anything that will hurt you- not just somebody trying to punch you.
This is the reason that teach a curriculum that uses Chinese Internal Martial Arts, applied personal growth and development, as well as project based leadership.
With an education in Internal Martial Arts our students learn about mental, physical, and spiritual balance with maximum body efficiency. Thanks to our affiliation to the top Chinese Grand Masters in the world with WACIMA (www.WACIMA.com) we have the ability to teach out students an incredibly high level of martial art.
With our Applied Personal Growth and Development Curriculum our students not only learn about but actually have a platform to apply the lessons of honesty, integrity, respect, discipline, etc.
With our Project Based Leadership Program our students have the opportunity to learn how to organize projects designed to have a positive impact on the world around them. Things that actually matter to them.
The objective of our entire program is to not just teach the theory of how to be responsible thinkers and leaders, but we give our students the platform to actually learn by doing. We give our students the tools and the experience to become responsible, conscientious, and balanced in their thoughts and actions- giving them the tools to achieve whatever great things they set their minds to.
We give our students the tools to actually be the positive change that the world needs, one responsible, disciplined, and conscientious person at a time.
